Malik Yusef and the Revolution!
Last night I returned from a week in Chicago, where I got so spend some time with revolutionary musicians at the National Hip Hop Political Convention. One of the many conscious artists I met was Malik Yusef, a reknowned spoken word artist from Chicago ( Check the Vision Force blog for photos). He and I talked about ways we can potentially work together on behalf of the youth, tomorrow's visionaries.
Malik and I both recorded interviews for Emjed Hammas' upcoming documentary titled, Business As Usual, which talks about the revolution happening in hip hop as conscious artists take back the medium of hip hop and use it as the voice for positive social change in the 21st Century.
At a Vision Force Boot Camp in 2004, Emjed discovered that he stood for social justice, and went on to see a vision for creating the documentary that he's working on now and is due out early in 2007.
